We’re looking for a HR Generalist that is an  articulate, well balanced, out of the box thinker. Someone who’s implemented various HR initiatives and takes an interest in HR Analytics. Someone who can voice their opinion in a respectful way and isn’t afraid to ”push back” or to come with new ideas.

 

 The HR Generalist will be a proactive go-getter, extremely organised and always on top of things. Who will also enjoy and thrive in working in a fast-paced environment and are looking to work in an organisation that really values its people. The HR Generalist will be working very closely with the Head of HR & Admin, in this varied position he/she will get involved in all aspects of HR from recruitment and selection (drawing up job specs, dealing with agencies, scheduling of interviews to drawing up offer letters and contracts) to onboarding to dealing with IR matters to assisting with reporting (EE, WSP and others) to training and so much more. Furthermore, he/she can also bring their creative/fun side to this role as they get to help out with internal communications.

As the role requires constant communication and interaction with their manager, the HR Generalist will share their knowledge and experience with their colleagues freely and contribute to the continuous improvement of team and company processes and procedures.

 

The HR Generalist will be required to build and maintain relationships with the team and mangers. He/She will also be a guide to the entire organisation on applying HR related policies and procedures in the correct manner. There will be a strong requirement to support manages on all HR related topics, provide assistance in enhancing the respective teams individual performance through identifying career development and growth opportunities along with enhancing the teams performance.

 

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications, experience and skills:

•       3 year Human Resources qualification with a minimum of 3 years HR experience;

•       Excellent planning, organising and time management skills;

•       Excellent communication skills, both oral & written;

•       Meticulous, with high attention to detail;

•       Action-orientated: able to take tasks to completion, very good project management skills;

•       Very strong inter-personal skills, able to build relationships across organisational hierarchies;

•       Able to maintain a very high degree of confidentiality;

•       Collaborative approach with a focus on the success of the team/ project.

•       High proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Sharepoint (Office 365) skills are required;

•       Experience in an online HR management system or an ERP would be an advantage;

•       Valid driver’s licence is required;

•       Languages: fluent in English is mandatory, conversational Afrikaans would be advantageous.

 

 

Some of the key responsibilities of the HR Generalist include the following:

Recruitment:

•       Support the manger in the process;

•       Drafting of job descriptions if and when required;

•       Liaise with the agencies to get top candidates;

•       Setting up interviews (HR, department, management);

•       Keep track of all CV’s received;

•       Drafting of offer letters & contracts;

•       Benchmarking salaries

 

New Employee Onboarding:

•       Ensuring IT & respective Office Manager provides their necessary set-up packages;

•       Assist manager with setting up of relevant inductions;

•       HR induction role out;

•       Implement check in system on new employee;

•       Provide support to managers to conduct a successful probation review;

 

Employee Engagement/Wellbeing;

•       Upkeep of EAP;

•       Develop & action various action plans linked to this: Company survey, sustainability, internal communications;

•       Scheduling quarterly workshops;

•       Providing support to the company;

 

Training & Development;

•       Prepare workplace skills plan and quarterly training reports;

•       Ensure completion of mandatory training and training renewals where required;

•       Ensure accurate record keeping of training activities for reporting purposes;

•       Upkeep of training catalogue;

•       Assist with booking of all trainings across the organisation;

•       Implementing Leadership programme;

•       Implementing & upkeep of LinkedIn Learning across the organisation;

 

Compensation & Benefits:

•       Execute monthly payroll inputs & benefits management;

•       Oversee benefit related tasks associated with new joiners and leavers;

•       Coordinate benefits review and renewal across the organisation & with broker/consultant;

 

Internal Communications;

•       Work closely with the Head of HR and external communications consultant to develop, implement and action the relevant employee engagement concepts;

•       Provide regular input & prepare monthly newsletter;

•       Roll out of annual engagement survey;

•       Develop, implement and action an intranet;

 

Other

•        Tracking of all leaves (annual, sick, FR, maternity, paternity);

•        Tracking of Fringe Benefits;

•        Tracking of headcount;

•        Bi-Annual budget review & updates;

•        Drafting & updating of HR Policies & procedures;

•        Coordinate all team buildings and staff functions;

•        Contribute to improving HR systems, process, procedures;

•        Any other duties, as assigned by the line manager;

•        Tracking of probation reviews, performance reviews;

•        Assist Head of HR with any DOL related queries

 

Health & Safety Responsibilities
