Grid Site / Project Manager

SUMMARY:
My client(Installer of Solar systems for residential &Commercial customers) is looking for an energetic and commercially minded individual to lead the Companies Grid initiative.

POSITION INFO:

This person will source and manage the network of solar installation partners, ensuring they meet the company’s quality, service, and performance standards.

The individual will act as the bridge between the Company and the installation partners —managing relationships, enforcing SLAs, resolving disputes, and driving results through data, performance reviews, and in-field oversight.

This is a mid-management role, the candidate will report directly to the Head of Installer Operations and work closely with cross-functional teams in Supply Chain, Customer Service, Sales and Finance.

Qualifications & Experience📋:

• Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or similar field.
• Sub-contractor management experience.
• Hands-on knowledge of the solar or electrical industry is advantages.
• Experience with contractor vetting and onboarding.

Minimum Requirements🎓:

• 5+ years’ experience working with subcontractors in solar, construction, telecoms, or related industries.
• Demonstrated project management and contractor oversight experience.
• Data-savvy with the ability to interpret and act on operational KPIs.
• Strong interpersonal skills—comfortable dealing with installers, customers, and executives.
• Ability to travel frequently (including site visits to Tier 3/4 towns in South Africa).
• Fluent in English, additional languages an advantage.
• Valid driver''s license.
• Strong problem-solving ability.
• Strong dispute resolution ability.

Responsibilities💻:

• Identify, onboard, and manage installers.
• Manage the installer lifecycle: vetting, onboarding, performance, and renewals/terminations.
• Enforce and monitor SLA compliance, including installation timelines, service tickets, and quality metrics.
• Travel regularly to installer sites for spot checks, training, and relationship management.
• Drive operational improvements and contractor accountability through dashboards and reporting.
• Ensure installers are trained to meet specifications and safety standards.
• Collaborate with internal departments to ensure solar installations and maintenance are seamless.
• Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning for and more broadly for Installer operations.
