An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Garden Manager to take responsibility for the grounds and gardening operations at a prestigious, upmarket establishment in Johannesburg North.
This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who understands that beautifully maintained grounds require strong organisation, excellent people management and meticulous attention to detail.

POSITION INFO:

🌱 The Role

• Managing, supervising and motivating a team of gardeners
• Planning daily tasks and preparing staff rosters
• Overseeing gardening equipment, tools and machinery
• Ensuring equipment is properly maintained and in good working order
• Managing garden-related stock, supplies and inventory
• Monitoring the use of fertilisers, chemicals, tools and other resources
• Ensuring gardening and maintenance standards are consistently upheld
• Identifying areas requiring attention and coordinating necessary work
• Managing staff performance, productivity and timekeeping
• Ensuring health, safety and housekeeping standards are maintained
• Being hands-on and actively involved in the day-to-day garden operations

🌿 What We’re Looking For

• Proven management/supervisory experience, preferably within a large garden, estate, hospitality or similar environment
• Experience managing a gardening team is highly advantageous
• Strong knowledge of gardening equipment and machinery
• Excellent organisational and rostering skills
• Experience with stock and equipment control
• Strong leadership and communication abilities
• A practical, hands-on approach
• High attention to detail and pride in maintaining exceptional standards
• Own reliable transportation – essential
• South African citizen
