Food New Product Developer

SUMMARY:
You will lead the team in creating and launching innovative baked dry products (biscuits/rusks) for this well establish brand in Northern Suburbs of Cape Town.

POSITION INFO:

The role responsibilities include managing production processes in the respective department, optimizing costs, and ensuring quality standards. With a focus on supplier relationships and team leadership, you will drive efficiency and excellence in the manufacturing operations.

Requirements:

• Diploma/Degree in Food Technology/Science or related field of study
• Grade 12 - MATRIC and/or relevant Tertiary qualification
• 3-5 years previous experience in Food/Bev sector
• 2 years supervisory/managerial experience
• 2 years product development experience - preferably in Food Industry
• Familiarity with ERP systems or other production planning software is advantageous
• Understanding of food safety regulations and quality assurance standards

Duties:

New Product Development (NPD) Leadership

• Lead the execution of new product development projects from concept to launch
• Conduct market research and analysis to identify consumer trends and competative landscape
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative product concepts and prototypes

Production Management:

• Plan and coordinate production schedules for departments to meet demand forecasts and inventory targets
• Optimize production processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs while ensuring quality standards
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and regulatory requirements in production operations

Suppliers and Vendor Management

• Identify and onboard suppliers/vendors for raw materials and packaging
• Negotiate contracts and manage relationships to ensure timely delivery and quality standards
• Monitor supplier performance and implement improvements as necessary

Team Leadership and Development

• Supervise and support the NPD and production teams, ensuring alignment with company goals and standards
• Provide guidance and mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation
