About the Role
Our client within the car and truck rental industry is seeking a detail-oriented and organised Debtors Clerk to join their finance team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing customer accounts, maintaining accurate debtor records, ensuring the timely collection of outstanding accounts, and supporting the overall debtors function. This role is ideal for an individual with strong administrative skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to build positive relationships with customers while maintaining effective credit control processes.
 
Duties & Responsibilities
Manage the debtors ledger and maintain accurate customer account records.
Follow up on outstanding accounts and ensure the timely collection of payments.
Allocate customer payments and reconcile debtor accounts.
Investigate and resolve account queries and discrepancies.
Prepare debtor reconciliations and account statements.
Monitor overdue accounts and follow up on outstanding balances.
Liaise with customers regarding payments and account-related queries.
Maintain accurate filing and financial records.
Assist with month-end debtors processes and reporting.
Work closely with the finance team to ensure the efficient management of the debtors function.
 
Requirements
Previous experience as a Debtors Clerk or in a similar accounts receivable role.
Strong understanding of debtors, account reconciliations and credit control processes.
Excellent numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
Good organisational and time management skills.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Computer literate with experience using Microsoft Excel and accounting systems.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Professional, reliable and able to maintain confidentiality.
