Financial Accountant CAPE TOWN R45K NEG

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to take full responsibility for the accounting function. This role is ideal for a hands-on accounting professional with a strong grasp of financial reporting, compliance, and month-end processes. You will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring that the company complies with all financial and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the full accounting function, including general ledger maintenance and reconciliations
Prepare monthly management accounts and supporting schedules
Handle VAT, income tax, and other statutory returns
Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions
Perform monthly bank, petty cash, and balance sheet reconciliations
Assist with budget preparation and cash flow forecasting
Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies
Support annual audit processes and liaise with external auditors
Maintain fixed asset registers and depreciation calculations
Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices

Minimum Requirements

BCom Degree in Accounting or similar
Completed SAIPA / SAICA articles (or currently pursuing professional qualification)
2–5 years’ experience in a similar role
Strong knowledge of IFRS and tax legislation
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar)
Advanced Excel skills
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
