FARMS PRODUCTION OFFICER

SUMMARY:
Somerset West Area – Western Cape: An industry-leading agricultural company is seeking an experienced Farms Production Officer to oversee and optimise large-scale citrus and table grape operations across multiple sites. The successful candidate will ensure high-quality fruit production aligned with market demands, regulatory requirements, and company standards, while driving operational efficiency and strategic growth.

POSITION INFO:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee full production operations from nursery to post-harvest dispatch
• Manage and optimise approximately:
• 1,649.6 hectares of citrus (+19.9ha mangoes)
• 94.2 hectares of grapes
• Lead and coordinate farming teams across four sites: Limpopo, Western Cape, and Eastern Cape
• Build and manage productive relationships with internal teams, growers, and strategic partners
• Ensure production meets cost, quality, and timeline requirements
• Drive strategic planning for current farms and future developments
• Manage budgets, cashflow, forecasting, and financial performance
• Align farming practices with regulatory, market, and quality standards
• Develop, lead, and nurture talent across the farming units

•  Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Business, or Management (advanced degree advantageous)
• 10–15 years’ senior experience in the citrus and/or grape industry – from primary production through to market standards
• Proven experience in external grower relations and working with executives and production teams
• Strong business acumen, financial planning, and operational management ability
• Excellent leadership, communication, and crisis management skills
• Ability to work under pressure and manage complex, multi-site environments
• Proficiency in relevant agricultural systems and computer packages
• Demonstrated ability to drive people performance and build high-performing teams
