External Sales & Account Representative

SUMMARY:
A premium interiors and lifestyle business is seeking an experienced External Sales & Account Consultant to manage and grow an established client portfolio across the East Rand. This is a road-based role focused on client visits, relationship management, upselling and identifying additional sales opportunities within existing and prospective accounts

POSITION INFO:
This opportunity would suit a commercially driven sales professional who enjoys being out on the road, meeting clients and developing long-term business relationships.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for servicing an allocated client base, conducting regular face-to-face visits, understanding customer requirements and identifying opportunities to grow spend across the portfolio. While new business development forms part of the position, there is a strong emphasis on existing client relationships, account management, retention and upselling.
The original position is explicitly road-based and involves visiting customers according to a contact plan, identifying their needs, presenting product ranges, managing orders and developing additional sales opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and develop relationships with an established portfolio of customers.
• Visit clients regularly according to an agreed call and contact plan.
• Identify opportunities to increase sales within existing accounts.
• Upsell and cross-sell products and solutions according to client requirements.
• Present and demonstrate product ranges professionally.
• Provide product advice and recommendations based on individual customer needs.
• Manage quotations, orders, customer queries and ongoing follow-up.
• Maintain regular communication regarding orders, deliveries and outstanding matters.
• Identify prospective customers and additional business opportunities within the territory.
• Maintain accurate client information, call reports and sales activity records.
• Monitor market and competitor activity and provide relevant feedback.
• Work towards individual sales targets and quarterly performance objectives.

• Matric / National Senior Certificate.
• Minimum 2 years' sales experience, ideally within a retail, wholesale, premium consumer or design-led environment.
• Previous external sales, territory sales or account management experience advantageous.
• Strong relationship-building and consultative sales ability.
• Comfortable working independently and managing a geographic client portfolio.
• Valid driver's licence and own reliable vehicle are essential.
• Must be comfortable using own transport for daily client visits and extensive road-based travel.
