E-commerce Financial Assistant – Job Specification

Job Title: E-commerce Financial Assistant
Location: Head Office – Cape Town CBD
Job Type: Permanent

Role Overview

This role is ideal for someone passionate about finance and retail, with a strong understanding of accounting principles and a keen interest in the fast-paced world of e-commerce.

POSITION INFO:
Minimum Requirements:

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Deadline-driven with excellent problem-solving abilities
Solid understanding of accounting principles (debits and credits)
Minimum 1 years’ experience in a similar finance role (advantageous)
Ability to accurately prepare, record, and process accounting transactions
Skilled in investigating and resolving financial discrepancies
Effective communication skills for internal and external collaboration
Familiarity with retail control procedures
Proactive in identifying risk areas and cost-saving opportunities
Ability to create and improve reconciliations for accurate reporting

General Finance Duties

Prepare and process weekly payments for South Africa
Conduct background checks for new suppliers.
Capture and allocate payments on Sage X3.
Confirm online payment receipts.
Process monthly supplier invoices and credit card expenses.
Perform reallocation journals and account reconciliations.
Ensure accurate intercompany cost allocations.
Raise accruals for accurate reporting.
Contribute to month-end and year-end closing activities.
Ensure compliance with internal controls and audit requirements.

E-commerce Specific Responsibilities

Reconcile online payment gateways (e.g., PJN, Payflex, Wicode) with sales records.
Capture and reconcile e-commerce expenses, including digital advertising.
Resolve discrepancies between e-commerce orders and financial systems.
Assist with refunds and support daily/monthly payment processing.
Prepare financial reports on e-commerce performance

Additional Requirements

Completed Grade 12 with Mathematics and/or Accounting (essential)
Certificate or Diploma in Accounting (advantageous)
Computer literacy with strong Excel skills
Reliable transport to our offices in Cape Town CBD
