Debtors and Creditors Clerk / Assistant Bookkeeper

The Role
Are you a numbers-driven, detail-oriented individual accounts clerk looking to grow your finance career in a supportive and dynamic environment?  You will work closely with two Senior Bookkeepers and report directly to the Finance Manager, managing a portfolio of 25–30 property schemes once fully trained.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain cashbook entries and perform bank reconciliations
• Manage debtors and creditors accounts
• Process debit orders, payments, journals, and insurance claims
• Capture water readings and process water & sewerage journals
• Prepare monthly financial management reports
• Handle credit control — SMSs, final demands, and attorney handover packs
• Assist with year-end processing and audit file preparation
• Respond to client and account holder queries within 48 hours
• Support fellow bookkeepers with queries and journal corrections

• Matric Certificate (Grade 12) — non-negotiable
• A bookkeeping qualification or certificate is advantageous (e.g. ICB, AAT or similar)
• 1-2 years of accounts recons/  bookkeeping experience is advantageous; however, entry-level finance graduates /diplomats with strong numerical acumen and solid Matric accounting results will be considered
• Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel — essential
• Familiarity with property management software (e.g. BCMTrac) is a bonus
• Valid driver’s licence — advantageous
• A clear criminal and credit history is essential. Background checks will be conducted on all shortlisted candidates
• Shortlisted candidates will be required to complete and pass a pre-screening numeracy assessment before progressing to the interview stage
