SUMMARY:
A senior logistics role responsible for managing cross trade and road freight shipments across African trade lanes has become available with our well-known freight forwarding client. The position requires strong expertise in customs compliance, crossâborder procedures, and transporter management, with a focus on delivering efficient, compliant, and costâeffective freight solutions.

POSITION INFO:
Minimum Requirements:

Grade 12 or equivalent NQF qualification.
At least 5 years’ experience in international freight forwarding, specializing in Africa trade lanes.
Proven track record in managing road freight and cross trade logistics, including multiâcountry transit shipments.
Solid knowledge of customs, borderâpost procedures, and compliance requirements.
Strong network of transporters, cross trade agents, and clearing agents across Africa.
Proficiency in logistics software (ShipShape or Cargowise preferred) and MS Office.
Experience with regional trade agreements (SADC, COMESA, EAC) advantageous.
Strong negotiation, planning, and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Coordinate and arrange cross trade and road freight shipments across Africa.
Prepare and manage customs, borderâpost, permit, and carrier documentation.
Register shipment files and ensure accurate data entry into logistics systems.
Compile freight and crossâborder cost estimates.
Liaise with transporters, clearing agents, and border posts to manage transit times and mitigate delays.
Monitor and manage crossâborder permits and transit documentation.
Provide clear communication and updates to clients regarding shipment progress.
Ensure invoices are prepared accurately and timeously.

Candidate Profile: The ideal candidate is a detailâoriented logistics professional with strong problemâsolving skills, the ability to work under pressure, and a proven ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously.
