Credit Dealmaker

SUMMARY:
A specialist lending organisation is seeking a Dealmaker to assess funding opportunities, structure responsible credit solutions, and guide transactions through the full deal cycle. The role involves analysing businesses across multiple industries, engaging directly with clients, and ensuring that all credit decisions are grounded in strong financial, legal, and risk principles. The ideal candidate is commercially sharp, analytically strong, and passionate about enabling business growth through sustainable lending.

POSITION INFO:

The Dealmaker will evaluate funding applications, perform detailed financial assessments, and determine whether businesses meet the organisation’s credit standards. They will develop and refine deal structures, ensuring that lending terms align with both client needs and responsible‑lending principles. The role includes preparing financial models, reports and investment documents for committee decision‑making, as well as drafting and concluding loan and security agreements. Ongoing responsibilities involve monitoring loan compliance, engaging with borrowers to resolve issues, and tracking credit exposure throughout the life of each transaction. The Dealmaker will also collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure that all processes, documentation and decisions meet the organisation’s credit, operational and governance requirements.
 
Skills & Experience:
Strong ability to analyse financial information, interpret statements, build models, and assess business sustainability
Confidence in reviewing credit applications, conducting due diligence, and forming well‑reasoned recommendations
Skilled in managing multiple deal‑related tasks, producing clear written reports, and presenting findings to decision‑makers
Comfortable operating independently while maintaining strong collaboration across teams and engaging professionally with clients
Capable of applying structured methodologies, legal awareness, and quantitative techniques to evaluate funding opportunities effectively
Background in credit, risk, corporate finance, SME finance, development finance, or related investment environments
 
Qualification:
Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Science
Professional qualifications such as CA(SA) or CFA are advantageous
