SUMMARY:
Manage customer accounts and collect outstanding payments to ensure healthy cash flow, reduce bad debt, and maintain positive customer relationships while managing credit risk and complying with company policies.

Key Responsibilities

Debt Collection & Credit Control

• Follow up on overdue customer accounts.
• Collect payments according to agreed credit terms.
• Monitor aged debt and prioritize high-risk accounts.
• Negotiate payment plans and follow up on missed commitments.
• Escalate overdue or high-risk accounts when necessary.
• Track collection performance and support achievement of targets.

• Review and reconcile customer accounts.
• Resolve account discrepancies and disputes.
• Ensure payments are allocated correctly.
• Prepare and review customer statements.
• Monitor credit balances, unapplied cash, and disputed transactions.
• Maintain accurate debtor records.
• Process and monitor customer payments through internet banking platforms.
• Monitor incoming receipts and ensure accurate allocation of funds to customer accounts.

• Assess customer creditworthiness.
• Review credit applications and supporting documents.
• Recommend credit limits, payment terms, or account suspensions.
• Monitor customer payment behaviour and identify risks.
• Support credit risk analysis and process improvements.
• Manage customer accounts in accordance with trade credit insurance policy requirements.
• Submit and maintain credit limit applications with trade credit insurers.
• Monitor insured credit limits and ensure customer exposure remains within approved limits.
• Report overdue accounts and potential claims to insurers within required timeframes.
• Prepare and submit supporting documentation for credit insurance claims.

• Build and maintain strong customer relationships.
• Manage complex account queries and disputes.
• Coordinate with internal departments to resolve issues.
• Deliver excellent customer service while protecting company interests.

• Identify accounts requiring legal action.
• Work with debt collection agencies.

• Ensure compliance with credit policies and procedures.

• Credit control and accounts receivable experience.
• Credit risk assessment and debtor analysis.
• Strong reconciliation and investigation skills.
• Knowledge of legal debt recovery processes.
• Experience with trade credit insurance administration and claims processes.
• Experience with internet banking platforms and electronic payment processing.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, reporting, reconciliations, data analysis).
• Microsoft Word proficiency.
• Experience with Sage Evolution and EasyClear.
• Strong analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
