SUMMARY:
Do you know your BOMs from your WIP and your ABC Costing from your Standard Costing? Our client, a well-established steel manufacturer on the East Rand, is looking for a commercially minded Cost Analyst who can dig into the numbers, challenge the status quo, and uncover opportunities to improve profitability.

POSITION INFO:
Our client is a respected player within the steel manufacturing sector, supplying high-quality products to a broad customer base across South Africa. They are seeking a Cost Analyst to take ownership of product costing, inventory analysis, margin reporting, and operational cost control across the manufacturing environment.

Working closely with Finance, Production, Procurement, and Operations, the successful candidate will provide critical insights that drive efficiency and profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage and maintain standard costing models
Perform ABC costing analysis and cost allocation reviews
Analyse BOMs, WIP, inventory, and manufacturing variances
Monitor production costs and identify cost-saving opportunities
Review material, labour, and overhead absorption rates
Conduct profitability and margin analysis across product lines
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cost planning
Support stock counts and inventory reconciliations
Prepare monthly costing and management reports
Partner with operational teams to improve cost visibility and controls

Job Experience & Skills Required:

BCom Accounting, Finance, Cost & Management Accounting or similar
CIMA qualification in progress advantageous
3-5 years' costing experience within manufacturing, engineering, steel, or heavy industry
Strong understanding of Standard Costing and ABC Costing methodologies
Experience working with BOMs, WIP, inventory, and variance analysis
Advanced Excel skills
ERP system experience essential
Strong analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail
Ability to communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders
