POSITION INFO:

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION To ensure the smooth and effective day to day running of the site based Control room function. To keep the Security Site Manager/Supervisor informed of incidents, and to ensure that agreed levels of service and contractual requirements are achieved as a minimum

Full function initiation to completion including:

• To ensure active communication at changeover, briefing to ensure awareness of any matters pertaining to the smooth effective running of the shift. 
• To assist and monitor the Security Team to respond to incidents. 
• To ensure all incoming telephone calls are answered in a timely manner and to take over the switchboard after 18:00 hours. 
•  To ensure that all critical alarms are actioned in a timely manner. 
• To assist in the training of team members. 
• To monitor access and emergence of personnel and respond to breaches.
• To be responsible for the administration, issue and return of all keys and radio communication equipment. 
• To ensure that all incidents, which occur during your duties, are reported promptly and recorded within the guidelines laid down by the client and efficiently dealt with. 
• To ensure integrity of the security systems is maintained. 
• To maintain a key element of the Control Room function by utilising the technology available 
• To ensure that as far as possible the building remains secure and any suspicious activity is noted and communicated in line with standard operating procedures. 
• To conduct a patrol of the premises using CCTV internally noting results in the daily occurrence log. 
• To ensure work area is always kept clean and tidy. 
• To ensure any queries in the first instance are referred to the Control room supervisor on shift. 
• To ensure the filing is completed during the day. 
• To ensure the handover of any outstanding work. 
• To ensure that all systems are logged off before leaving.
• Any other duties deemed necessary to the post 
• Monitor vehicle repay of all vehicle incident. 

REQUIREMENTS:

• Matric Certificate 
• Grade B 
• Experience in control room security 
• Registered with PSIRA 
• Valid Police Clearance Certificate 
• CCTV monitoring 
• Working 12 Hours shift 
• Computer literate 

COMPETENCIES 

• Be high-level vigilance 
• Attention to the details of every activity. 
• Respond to the intrusion alarm by instructing the team.
• Control remotely such as gate, doors, or other access points 
• Security patrols on foot and in a vehicle (depending on site) 
• Access control (depending on site)
• Controlling and issuing keys  Operating as a key-holder
• Maintaining logbooks and registers 
• Vehicle monitoring
