POSITION INFO:
Key Requirements:

In-depth knowledge of AWS and Azure database services (e.g., RDS, Aurora, Cosmos DB, Azure SQL Database).
Experience with database performance tuning, security hardening, and cost optimization in cloud environments.
Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) for automation and management tasks.
Solid understanding of database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies in cloud contexts.
Experience with database high availability and replication technologies.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Agile methodology.
Educational Background: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, implement, and manage cloud-based database solutions on AWS and Microsoft Azure platforms, ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance.
Develop and implement strategies for migrating on-premises databases to cloud environments, working closely with the global migration team.
Optimize database performance, security, and cost-efficiency in cloud environments.
Implement and manage database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions in the cloud.
Collaborate with the automation team to develop scripts and tools for database management, monitoring, and maintenance in cloud environments.
Work with the security team to implement and maintain database security measures, ensuring compliance with Group standards and South African data protection regulations.
Provide expert technical support for cloud database issues, performing root cause analysis and implementing long-term solutions.
