Job Title: CO₂ Welder

Job Purpose

Key Responsibilities

• Perform CO₂ (MIG/MAG) welding on mild steel and other approved materials.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, welding symbols, and work instructions.
• Prepare materials by measuring, cutting, grinding, and fitting components before welding.
• Set up and operate welding machines and related equipment.
• Inspect welded joints to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
• Repair defective welds where necessary.
• Use measuring equipment to verify dimensions and tolerances.
• Maintain welding equipment and report faults promptly.
• Follow workplace health, safety, and environmental procedures.
• Keep the work area clean and organized.
• Assist with fabrication and assembly work when required.
• Meet production targets while maintaining quality standards.

Minimum Qualifications

• Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent.
• Recognized Welding Certificate or Trade Qualification preferred.
• Valid CO₂/MIG welding certification is an advantage.

Experience

• Minimum 2-5 years' experience as a CO₂ (MIG/MAG) Welder in an engineering, manufacturing, or fabrication environment.
• Experience welding structural steel, plate, pipe, or heavy engineering components.
• Experience working from engineering drawings.
