CNC Bore Turner (V-Bore) - Vanderbijlpark

SUMMARY:
Position available for a CNC Bore Turner based in Vanderbijpark.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Minimum Grade 12 / N3,
• Technical Skills –Basic CNC experience
• Minimum of two years’ post-qualification experience.
• Proven experience working in a machining and engineering environment.
• Strong attention to detail, with the ability to identify potential issues and take prompt corrective action.
• High emotional intelligence, including self-awareness, interpersonal skills and empathy.
• Ability to accurately interpret and follow detailed instructions, procedures and technical documentation.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with colleagues and supervisors.

• Set up and operate CNC Vertical Boring/Turning machines (V-Bores/VTLs) safely and efficiently.
• Read, interpret and work accurately from engineering drawings, machining instructions and technical specifications.
• Select, install and correctly use appropriate turning tools, boring bars, inserts, drills and other cutting tools.
• Select and set up suitable workholding equipment, fixtures and clamping arrangements for various components.
• Load, position, centre, align and securely clamp workpieces on the machine.
• Set and adjust machine offsets, work coordinates, tool geometry, tool wear offsets, Speeds, feeds and cutting parameters.
• Perform a variety of machining operations, including turning, boring, facing, grooving, drilling, reaming, chamfering and other related operations.
• Machine both internal and external diameters to specified dimensions and tolerances.
• Use and accurately read precision measuring and inspection equipment, including micrometers, vernier callipers, bore gauges, depth gauges and dial indicators.
• Measure components during and after machining to ensure dimensional accuracy and compliance with engineering drawing tolerances.
• Inspect finished components for dimensions, concentricity, run-out, surface finish and overall quality.
• Identify and rectify machining issues such as tool wear, vibration, incorrect offsets, dimensional inaccuracies, poor surface finish and incorrect cutting parameters.
• Monitor tooling condition and carry out tool changes and replacement of inserts and consumables when required.
• Make appropriate offset adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy and compensate for tool wear.
• Maintain accurate production, quality and inspection records.
• Carry out routine machine checks, cleaning, lubrication and basic operator maintenance.
• Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with company procedures, quality standards and health and safety requirements.
• Report machine faults, tooling problems, quality concerns and other operational issues to the relevant supervisor.
• Maintain good housekeeping around the machine and ensure tools and equipment are stored correctly.
• Work efficiently to meet production targets and scheduled deadlines while maintaining required quality standards.
• Minimise scrap, rework, tooling wastage and machine downtime through effective machine operation and attention to detail.
• AD HOC Duties assigned from time to time.
