SUMMARY:
Bookkeeper to Trial Balance - Knysna

We are seeking a detailed-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to manage the full bookkeeping function up to Trial Balance level within a construction / project based environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for project costing, supplier and subcontractor accounts, intercompany transactions, reconciliations,, and maintaining accurate financial records across multiple entities.
Experience in the construction industry and working with project / job costing is highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:

Bookkeeping and Financial Administration:

• Maintain accurate accounting records up to Trial Balance
• Process daily financial transactions and journal entries
• peform bank reconciliations and general ledger reconciliations
• Prepare month-end schedules and assist with management accounts
• Ensure all financial records are maintained in accordance with company policies and accounting standards

• Allocate costs accurately to construction projects / jobs
• Monitor project expenses against budgets
• Track labour, materials subcontractor and plant costs
• Assist with project profitability reporting
• Investigate costing variances and discrepancies

• Manage supplier accounts and reconciliations
• Process supplier invoices and payments
• Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors regarding queries and statements
• Ensure timely and accurate payment processing
• Maintain proper supporting documentation

• Process and reconcile intercompany loans, charges and recoveries
• Maintain accurate intercompany balances across related entities
• Assist with intergroup invoicing and reconciliations
• Resolve intercompany discrepancies timeously

• Assist with audit preparation and supplorting schedules
• Ensure VAT and statutory records are correctly maintained
• Support the finance team with ad hoc accounting and administrative tasks
• Maintain confidentiality of financial information

POSITION INFO:
Minimum Requirements:

• Diploma or Certificate in Bookkeeping, Accounting or Finance
• Minimum 3-5 years bookkeeping experience to Trial Balance
• Previous experience in the construction or project-based industry preferred
• Strong understanding of project costing and supplier management
• Experience with intercompany accounting
• Proficient in accounting software & MS Excel
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Good organisational and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

• Experience with SAGE, Xero, Quickbooks, Buildsmart, or similar accounting systems
• Knowledge of VAT and payroll processes
• Experience working with multiple entities / Group companies
