Purpose of the Job
To ensure that the financial records of the company are accounted for efficiently and timeously, to assist in maintaining sound financial control and achieving fair presentation of the financial Statements.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
- Financial Diploma or preferably BCom Accounting Graduate (preferably (with Auditing subject) with 5 years general accounts experience
- Matric Mathematics (Core/Higher Grade) minimum 55%
- Advanced Excel Skills and sound working knowledge of other Microsoft Office programs
- Experience working in a multi-company (4 or more) financial accounting department
- Advanced working knowledge of Pastel Partner and Pastel Evolution’s Fixed Assets module

- Full bookkeeping and financial control for 3 companies
- Partial bookkeeping and financial control of 1 company
- Fixed Assets financial management
- Reconciliation and review of Incorporated ABSA Trust bank account payments
- Ad hoc functions
Job Task Analysis:
Full bookkeeping and financial control of 3 companies
Processing of books up to Trial Balance in Pastel
- Capturing creditors invoices
- Generating debtors’ invoices
- Capturing of cash books and completion of bank reconciliations
- Processing of month end journals e.g., depreciation, finance charges, prepayments, raising and reversal of expense and income accruals
- Maintenance of debtors and creditors control
- Emailing of invoices & statements to debtors
- Preparation of debtor’s reconciliations
- Follow up on outstanding debtor payments and queries
- Ensuring supplier invoices are adequately authorised for payment
- Preparing creditors reconciliations to the statements
- Follow up on outstanding creditor queries
- Assisting with BEE requirements related to supplier payments
- Preparing & loading payments using Online Banking daily & monthly
Preparing month-end General Ledger reconciliations
- The reconciliation of the income statement and balance sheet accounts with supporting documentation compiled in a working paper file
- Summarising and reconciling intercompany transactions and balances
The completion & submission of statutory returns
- The completion & submission of the VAT201 return
- The completion & submission of the EMP201 returns
Partial bookkeeping and financial control of Daly Credit Corporation (Pty) Ltd
Capturing of cash books and completion of bank reconciliations
- For specific bank accounts allocated to own
- Management of A – M creditors
- Capturing creditors invoices
- Allocating and splitting costs by cost codes where applicable
- Ensuring supplier invoices are adequately authorised for payment
- Preparing creditors reconciliations to the statements
- Follow up on outstanding creditor queries
- Assisting with BEE requirements related to supplier payments
- Preparing & loading payments using Online Banking daily & monthly
The completion & submission of statutory returns
- The completion & submission of the EMP201 return
Fixed Assets financial management for the Group
- Recording of all fixed assets transactions in the FAR maintained in Pastel Evolution
- Performing fixed assets internal audits of assets on the floor vs. Pastel Evolution theoretical records
- Monitoring and managing compliance with the Fixed Assets Policy
Reconciliation and review of the group Incorporated ABSA Trust bank account payments
- Reviewing and reconciling trust bank account pay-overs
- Preparing & loading payments using Online Banking
Ad hoc functions
- BEE: Obtaining the Training Register Form for external training invoices and using it to complete the Skills Development Schedule
- Assisting with covering & being the backup for other team members who are temporarily away on leave
- Assisting with financial queries, calculations, and investigations
- Assisting with year-end audits
- Due to the nature of the business assist in any other areas should it be necessary
- Be available to assist in other areas as and when required based on business needs
