SUMMARY:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organised Bookkeeper to manage multiple client accounts up to trial balance.

POSITION INFO:

Bookkeeper (Hybrid)
Location: Northern Suburbs, Cape Town
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary: R18,000 – R25,000 per month (based on experience)
Start Date: Immediate

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organised Bookkeeper to manage multiple client accounts up to trial balance. This role requires strong technical bookkeeping skills, the ability to multitask across a portfolio of clients, and confidence in client-facing interactions.

Key Responsibilities

Full bookkeeping function up to Trial Balance
SARS eFiling submissions (VAT201 & EMP201)
Preparation of trial balances for accountants
Reconciliation of:

Bank accounts
Debtors and creditors
Balance sheet accounts

Processing of journal entries
Assisting clients in understanding their financial records
Conducting client visits when required
Setting up takeover balances and onboarding new client books
Managing stock and related adjustments
Handling bookkeeping for approximately 20 companies simultaneously

Minimum Requirements

Minimum 3 years’ bookkeeping experience
Bookkeeping diploma or relevant qualification
Solid understanding of basic accounting principles
Experience working with multiple clients

Technical Skills

Accounting software: Sage One, Xero, Zoho, QuickBooks Online, Pastel
MS Office: Outlook, Excel, Word
Other tools: Clockify, Syft

Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

Professional, presentable, and confident for client interaction
High level of integrity and transparency

Additional Requirements

Must be fluent in English and Afrikaans (spoken and written)
Must reside within a 30–45 minute commute of the Northern Suburbs (CBD, Northern Suburbs, or Atlantic Seaboard)
Ability to work both independently and within a team
No private client work or conflict of interest permitted

Working Hours & Conditions

Monday to Friday: 08:00 – 16:00
Hybrid working model (office based in Northern Suburbs)
8-hour workday

Leave & Benefits

15 working days annual leave
Includes a December shutdown period of 7–9 days
No pension or medical aid benefits

Probation & Notice Period

3-month probation period (reviewed monthly)
Permanent employment subject to successful completion of probation
2-month notice period
