Bookkeeper

SUMMARY:
A reputable accounting firm in Mossel Bay is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients, ensuring accurate bookkeeping, reconciliations, and compliance with accounting standards.

POSITION INFO:
Description:
Client Bookkeeping

• Manage daily bookkeeping functions for multiple clients
• Capture financial transactions accurately (sales, purchases, payments, receipts)
• Process bank, credit card, and petty cash transactions
• Maintain and update general ledgers

• Perform monthly bank reconciliations
• Reconcile debtors and creditors accounts
• Prepare and reconcile VAT, PAYE, and UIF submissions

• Prepare management accounts
• Assist with financial statements preparation
• Provide monthly/quarterly reports as required
• Flag discrepancies and areas needing attention

• Process VAT201 submissions
• Assist with EMP201/EMP501 submissions
• Ensure compliance with SARS regulations
• Liaise with SARS where required

• Process monthly payroll for assigned clients
• Maintain employee records and statutory compliance

• Communicate with clients regarding outstanding documents or queries
• Assist accountants and managers with year-end tasks
• Maintain organised and accurate records (digital and physical)

• Grade 12 (Matric)
• Bookkeeping/Accounting diploma or equivalent qualification
• Minimum 2–5 years bookkeeping experience (preferably in an accounting firm)
• Strong understanding of accounting principles
• Experience on accounting software (Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar)
• Proficient in MS Excel and MS Office
• VAT & Payroll experience advantageous
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to handle multiple clients and deadlines
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
