Bookkeeper

SUMMARY:
Our client in the Property Development and Building industry is currently looking for an experienced Bookkeeper to be based in Bellville, Cape Town. We're seeking a highly skilled and experienced Bookkeeper to join our dynamic team. As a Bookkeeper, you'll play a critical role in maintaining the financial integrity of our client's organization, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and providing exceptional support.

Minimum Qualification Criteria:

• Matric
• Accounting/Bookkeeping/Financial Certification; Diploma or Degree
• Minimum of 5 years experience
• Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook)
• Experience with Xero
• Deep understanding of Accounting principles

• Process Customer and Supplier Invoices
• Capture Cashbooks
• Reconciling bank account to bank statement
• Count, capture and reconcile Petty Cash
• Prepare Debtors reconciliation
• Follow up regarding outstanding debt
• Write off bad debts and small anomalies
• Verify Supplier balances to statements
• Prepare Suppliers reconciliation
• Capture daily, weekly and monthly payments on online banking
• Process Interest journals for loan accounts, bonds and Installment sale contractors
• Process Depreciation journals
• Process Salary journals
• Process Taxation journals
• Check through the general ledger to ensure all transactions are captured
• Reallocate misallocated transactions
• Preparation of monthly management accounts
• Complete VAT calculations
• Prepare VAT201 on SARS e-filing
• Submit VAT201
• Prepare and submit documentation for review for VAT201 declaration
• Assist with VAT registration and collating documentation
• Complete and maintain Asset Register
• Ensure Asset register ties up to bookkeeping software
• Ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthly or bi-monthly
• Attend to all bookkeeping queries monthly
• Calculate and process commissions (on loans)
• Create and maintain loan schedules for clients
• Assist with creating projects costings
• Keep track and report on projects costs
• Invoice management fees
• Assist management in creating systems for workflow
• Prepare monthly payments due for clients
• Update budget accordingly
• Update projections accordingly
• Reconcile intercompany loan accounts
• Answering the office telephone
• Liaise with client regarding queries and documentation
• Setup new filing system for the office
• Office filing
• File all bookkeeping documentation once complete
• Contact SARS regarding queries for VAT
• Assist clients with ad-hoc reports
• Account Maintenance on SARS e-filing for VAT
