Banking & Finance Attorney (Junior 1-5 PQE)

SUMMARY:

Banking & Finance Associate Attorney

Minimum Requirements:

• LLB Degree
• Admitted Attorney in South Africa
• 1–5 years’ post-admission experience within Banking & Finance Law
• Must have solid Banking & Finance experience gained at a reputable law firm or financial institution
• Strong exposure to LMA documentation is essential
• Experience drafting and negotiating facility agreements, security documents, and finance-related agreements
• Exposure to syndicated lending, trade finance, leveraged finance, or asset-based lending advantageous
• Strong drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills
• Ability to work within an international and fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication and attention to detail

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating banking and finance documentation
• Assisting with syndicated lending and cross-border transactions
• Reviewing and negotiating security documentation
• Assisting with trade finance and structured finance matters
• Conducting legal research and preparing legal opinions
• Liaising with local and international clients
• Supporting senior attorneys on complex finance transactions
• Assisting with transaction management and deal execution
• Ensuring compliance with banking and financial regulations

Key Skills:

• Strong understanding of Banking & Finance transactions
• Commercially minded with strong problem-solving abilities
• Excellent drafting and negotiation skills
• Ability to manage multiple transactions simultaneously
• Strong organisational and time-management skills
• Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
