SUMMARY:
Job Summary

Responsible for the department, delegate work as required and sent by director and practice manager. Be responsible for allocated accounting and tax work for clients. Assist on audits and other assignments as allocated. Ensure accuracy and completeness of work with attention to detail, while at the same time maintaining productivity.

POSITION INFO:
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Matric (compulsory)
Degree/Diploma/Certificate in Accounting
Experience in income tax, financial statements, auditing
Valid Driver’s License and have own transport advantageous - (travel will be reimbursed at standard rates).

EXPERIENCED REQUIRED:

3-5 years’ experience as a Senior Bookkeeper - management experience would be advantageous
Experience dealing with SARS and other related registration offices
Excellent level of understanding of accounting software programs

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervise and support a team of bookkeepers, including performance management and workflow planning
Manage the full bookkeeping function up to trial balance, ensuring accuracy and completeness
Prepare and review monthly trial balances, income statements, and balance sheets
Perform monthly reconciliations (bank, petty cash, debtors, creditors) and process journals (including depreciation and provisions)
Prepare and distribute monthly management accounts within agreed deadlines
Identify discrepancies, investigate variances, and report unusual items
Handle VAT calculations, submissions, and client approvals via eFiling
Process payroll and ensure compliance with statutory requirements (EMP201, etc.)
Liaise with clients, resolve queries, and maintain strong professional relationships
Ensure deadlines, budgets, and internal controls/checklists are consistently met
Assist with basic tax returns and ad hoc accounting work
