Automation Technician Intern - Milling Industry
POSITION INFO:
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented, structured and calm-under-pressure Automation Technician Intern to assist with the installation, commissioning, testing, troubleshooting and maintenance of industrial automation and control systems in the milling industry!
Essential Qualifications:
National Senior Certificate or equivalent (NQF 4) – essential
National Diploma, Trade Certificate or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation or related field
Basic knowledge of PLC programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider, Delta, Omron, etc.)
Essential Experience & Knowledge:
PLC programming basics (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider, Delta, Omron)
Understanding of electrical control systems and industrial instrumentation
Ability to read electrical diagrams, schematics and technical drawings
Electrical wiring and panel installations
Fault-finding on electrical and automation systems
Key Responsibilities:
PLC & Automation Support:
Assist with PLC programming, troubleshooting and system modifications
Support the installation and commissioning of automation and control systems
Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and PLC logic
Test, inspect and maintain PLC-controlled equipment
Electrical & Maintenance:
Perform electrical wiring and panel installations
Assist with fault-finding on electrical and automation systems
Support preventative maintenance activities
Maintain accurate maintenance and programming records
Continuous Improvement:
Participate in continuous improvement and automation projects
Work collaboratively across teams and sites
