SUMMARY:
An intimate lodge on the shores on Lake Saint Lucia is looking for a dedicated ASSISTANT LODGE MANAGEMENT COUPLE.

POSITION INFO:
This is a hands-on position for a couple who want to run a small, characterful property together: one leading daily operations and guest experience, the other leading guiding across the lodge's lake, forest and grassland environment.

Role 1 | Lodge Manager

Core Criteria:

Strong administrative and HR skills
Experience with Semper or a similar reservations system
Proven ability to coordinate guest activities and daily lodge operations
Confident managing staff, rosters and shift schedules
Comfortable hosting, serving and running bar duties
Solid understanding of housekeeping standards and guest liaison

Candidate Responsibilities:

Oversee day to day lodge operations
Manage staff duties, shifts and time management
Host and serve guests, including bar duties
Conduct guest liaison and housekeeping checks
Liaise with chefs on guest dietary requirements
Handle shopping trips and supply runs
Manage check ins, check outs and billing
Conduct stock takes
Coordinate activities and guide set ups with the guiding team
Oversee health and safety and sustainability checks
Assist with HR functions as needed

Role 2 | Head Guide

Core Criteria:

Minimum FGASA Level 2, Trails qualification preferred
Skipper's licence advantageous, or willingness to obtain one
Valid PDP, FGASA, CATHSSETA, DEAT registration, First Aid certification and police clearance
Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge
Guiding background suited to birding, botany and coastal ecosystems rather than a big five focus (the reserve does host elephant, buffalo, hyena and leopard, but not lion or cheetah)
Minimum 3 years experience in a 3 to 5 star lodge environment
Strong, contactable references

Candidate Responsibilities:

Conduct game drives, boat safaris, beach safaris and night drives
Maintain and check guiding vehicles, including oversight of other rangers' vehicles and procedures
Work independently and manage own guiding schedule
Assist with hosting and bar duties as backup when needed

Guides keep their own tip box
