SUMMARY:
An international freight forwarder seeks an experienced Air Import Controller in Cape Town, with a strong background in airfreight imports and client-focused shipment coordination.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end air import shipments and cross-trade movements.
• Proactively communicate with clients regarding shipment status, delays, and solutions.
• Coordinate with suppliers, carriers, agents, and internal departments to ensure smooth cargo movement.
• Track and monitor shipments from collection through to final delivery.
• Resolve client queries, shipment exceptions, and operational challenges efficiently.
• Monitor and manage customer KPIs and service performance.
• Support pricing, invoicing, and cost control processes.
• Assist with implementation and onboarding of new accounts.
• Provide after-hours support for urgent or critical shipments when required.
• Maintain accurate records and administration within the company operating systems.

Minimum Requirements

• 3 to 5 years experience as an Air Import Controller within a freight forwarding environment.
• Strong understanding of international airfreight import processes.
• Experience dealing directly with clients, airlines, agents, and service providers.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Strong administrative and organisational abilities.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure.
• Sound commercial awareness and understanding of shipment profitability.
• Fluent in English (written and spoken).

Preferred Background

• Freight forwarding and logistics industry experience.
• Exposure to international import operations and cross-trade shipments.
