A growing financial services environment is looking for an Accounting Clerk – Payments & Reconciliations to join its finance team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is confident working with EFT payments, bank reconciliations, supplier payments and accounting systems, and who takes pride in getting the detail right.

This role is based in Irene, Centurion.

Key Responsibilities:

Client EFT Payments

• Process client EFT payments accurately and within required turnaround times.
• Verify payment instructions, beneficiary details and supporting documentation.
• Ensure payments comply with internal approval procedures and controls.
• Investigate and resolve rejected payments, discrepancies and outstanding transactions.
• Maintain accurate payment records and supporting documentation.
• Escalate unusual transactions, risks or discrepancies when required.

• Perform daily bank, client and financial account reconciliations.
• Reconcile transactions between banking platforms, internal systems and accounting records.
• Investigate unidentified transactions and reconciling items.
• Follow up on outstanding items and ensure discrepancies are resolved timeously.
• Maintain accurate reconciliation schedules and supporting documentation.

• Process supplier payments in line with approved procedures and payment terms.
• Verify invoices, banking details and supporting documentation.
• Ensure payments have the appropriate authorisation before release.
• Assist with supplier account reconciliations and payment queries.
• Liaise with suppliers and internal departments to resolve discrepancies.

• Import daily bank statements and transactions into the accounting system.
• Ensure bank imports are complete, accurate and processed within deadlines.
• Verify that transactions are correctly reflected in the accounting records.
• Investigate import errors, duplicate transactions and unmatched entries.

• Maintain accurate and confidential financial records.
• Follow company policies, financial controls and established procedures.
• Provide general accounting and administrative support to the finance team as required.

• Matric / Grade 12 is essential.
• Previous experience in an accounting or finance administration role.
• Experience with EFT payments and bank reconciliations will be highly advantageous.
• Exposure to accounting software and online banking platforms.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer applications.
• A relevant Accounting or Finance qualification/certificate, or studies towards one, will be advantageous.
