About the Role

A dynamic international wine business with operations in South Africa and Munich, Germany is looking for a highly organized, detail-oriented Accountant / General Assistant to manage their accounting records and support the partner with key business management functions.

This role is ideal for a recent B.Com graduate who is passionate about numbers, enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, and has a strong interest in the wine industry with opportunities for international exposure.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Administration

• Full accounting function up to Income Statement for a registered VAT vendor
• Daily processing on Pastel & Xero, including bank receipts, payments, and reconciliations
• Invoice commission to individual wine farms
• Monitor and manage debtors weekly
• Prepare month-end reports for review by external accountants
• Liaise with external auditors and accountants

VAT & Compliance

• Bi-monthly VAT calculations
• Submission of supporting documentation to SARS
• VATIT claims and foreign VAT documentation
• Assist with DTI applications and reconciliations

Debtors & Client Management

• Weekly follow-up on foreign and local payments
• Monthly statements and retainer invoices to farms
• Maintain updated engagement letters
• Professional client correspondence

Payroll Support

• Update employee commission details for payroll processing
• Adhere to payroll deadlines and intercompany communication

Show Budget Monitoring (International Wine Shows)

• Prepare budgets prior to scheduled shows
• Monitor ongoing show costs
• Process international show invoicing (foreign currency conversions)
• Track and report actual show income and expenditure
• Report profitability per show to management

General Administration & Business Support

• Assist with general business management activities
• Sales and pending orders analysis
• Update company plans and goals
• Manage travel arrangements
• Maintain accurate filing and data security

 Minimum Requirements

• B.Com degree (Accounting / Finance)
• Strong Mathematics background (excellent Matric results essential)
• Bilingual in English and Afrikaans
• High attention to detail and strong self-review skills
• Excellent time management and organizational abilities
• Computer literate (Pastel, Xero & Excel essential)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Sound understanding of VAT legislation (or willingness to learn)
