Workshop Manager required for an automotive retail and service company based in East London
Job Purpose:
The Workshop Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the service and repair workshop. This includes managing staff, ensuring high-quality service delivery, maintaining safety standards, and optimizing efficiency to meet customer satisfaction and business goals.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Supervise and coordinate the daily operations of the workshop.
- Manage a team of mechanics, technicians, and support staff.
- Ensure timely and accurate diagnosis, repair, and servicing of vehicles.
- Monitor workflow and allocate jobs to technicians based on priority and skill level.
- Maintain quality control and ensure all work meets manufacturer and industry standards.
- Liaise with customers to provide updates and resolve any queries or concerns.
- Manage inventory levels and ensure the availability of parts and tools.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and costs.
- Assist in budgeting and managing workshop expenses.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Matric or equivalent (Mechanical/Technical qualification preferred).
- Proven experience in an automotive workshop environment, with at least 3–5 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Strong technical knowledge of vehicle repairs and maintenance.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Good communication and customer service abilities.
- Computer literacy (job card systems, MS Office, etc.).
