SUMMARY:
A well-established company in the scrap metal and recycling industry is seeking a practical and hardworking Workshop Assistant to support maintenance and repair operations across its busy industrial sites.

This role is ideal for a hands-on individual with a strong interest in mechanical work and a willingness to learn within a demanding workshop and production environment. The business operates across multiple South African locations and is transitioning toward AI-driven machinery and digital systems, creating opportunities for individuals who are eager to grow their technical skills in a modern industrial environment.

POSITION INFO:

Key Responsibilities

Assist technicians with servicing, repairs, and maintenance of machinery and equipment
Prepare tools, materials, and work areas for daily maintenance activities
Maintain workshop cleanliness, organization, and safety standards
Support basic diagnostics and fault-finding processes
Travel to operational sites to assist with breakdowns and repairs
Use modern diagnostic equipment and AI-supported systems
Assist with general workshop duties and operational support when required

Minimum Requirements

Basic mechanical knowledge, preferably relating to diesel machinery, heavy equipment, or industrial machinery
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel between sites
Physically fit and comfortable performing hands-on work
Willingness to learn and follow instructions from senior technicians
Basic computer literacy
Ability to work in physically demanding industrial and workshop environments
