SUMMARY:

Our client is seeking an experienced Wholesale Trader to drive profitable sales, manage customer relationships and develop new business opportunities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for growing an assigned customer portfolio, achieving turnover and gross profit targets, negotiating selling prices and identifying opportunities to increase sales within a competitive wholesale environment.

POSITION INFO:

Key Responsibilities

Achieve turnover, gross profit and sales volume targets.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing customers.
Identify and secure new business through prospecting and cold calling.
Negotiate selling prices while protecting profit margins.
Prepare quotations, process orders and follow up on sales opportunities.
Monitor stock availability, stock movement and slow-moving products.
Identify opportunities to grow sales and improve product mix.
Monitor customer buying patterns, competitor activity and market trends.
Conduct regular customer visits locally and quarterly visits to national clients.
Maintain accurate customer, quotation and sales records using SAP or a comparable ERP system.
Work closely with Procurement, Finance, Logistics and the wider sales team.
Monitor performance against targets and report on opportunities, risks and lost business.

Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 / Matric.
Minimum 3 years' experience in sales, trading or business development.
Experience in customer relationship management and new-business development.
Strong commercial awareness, numerical ability and negotiation skills.
Understanding of product costs, selling prices, gross profit and margins.
Proven ability to work towards sales and profitability targets.
Confidence in prospecting, cold calling and securing new customers.
Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office.
SAP or comparable ERP experience will be advantageous.
Experience in FMCG, food distribution, wholesale or seafood will be advantageous.
A relevant qualification in sales, business, commerce or marketing will be beneficial.
