SUMMARY:
Duties & Responsibilities

Prepare detailed technical drawings for:

Plumbing systems
Water reticulation
Sewer and drainage systems
Stormwater systems
Fire protection systems
Sprinkler systems
Fire hydrant layouts
Hose reel systems

Produce coordinated construction and as-built drawings.
Draft layouts, schematics, riser diagrams, and sectional details.
Work closely with engineers, architects, and project managers to develop compliant designs.
Ensure drawings comply with:

SANS regulations
Municipal bylaws
Fire safety regulations
Building codes

Amend and revise drawings according to project requirements and engineer comments.
Assist with tender documentation and project submissions.
Coordinate wet services and fire services drawings with structural, electrical, and HVAC disciplines.
Prepare material schedules and technical documentation.
Conduct site measurements and site inspections when required.
Ensure accurate drawing records and document control.
Assist with municipal approval submissions.
Support project teams during construction and installation phases.

POSITION INFO:
Required Qualifications

National Diploma or Certificate in Draughting, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architectural Technology, or related field.
AutoCAD certification or relevant CAD training.
Revit MEP training or certification is advantageous.
Additional fire protection or plumbing design courses are beneficial.

Skills & Experience Required

2–5+ years’ experience in wet services and/or fire services draughting.
Strong working knowledge of:

AutoCAD
Revit MEP
BIM coordination
MS Office

Understanding of:

Plumbing systems
Fire protection systems
Water reticulation
Drainage systems
Hydraulic principles

Knowledge of South African building regulations and SANS standards, particularly:

SANS 10400
Fire protection regulations
Plumbing standards

Ability to read and interpret engineering and architectural drawings.
Strong technical detailing and coordination skills.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Good communication and teamwork abilities.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Valid driver’s license may be advantageous for site visits.
