A weighbridge operator is responsible for accurately weighing and recording all incoming and outgoing vehicles, issuing weighbridge tickets, maintaining equipment, verifying documentation, and ensuring compliance with site safety and weight regulations.
Overview
A weighbridge operator plays a key role in logistics, waste management, manufacturing, quarrying, and industrial sites. His primary function is to ensure accurate weight measurement, proper documentation, and smooth vehicle flow on-site
Key Responsibilities
- Operate weighbridge systems (manual or computerized) to weigh inbound and outbound vehicles.
- Record weight data, vehicle details, material types, and transaction times.
- Issue accurate weighbridge tickets and verify all associated paperwork.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and waste acceptance procedures.
- Maintain and calibrate weighbridge equipment to ensure accurate measurements.
- Direct drivers on correct positioning and site navigation.
- Inspect loads for correct materials and potential contaminants.
- Input data into business systems (NAV) and run reports for KPIs, tonnage, and cost tracking.
- Manage payments (cash, or account transactions) when required.
- Maintain organized records for auditing and compliance.
- Liaise with drivers, customers, accounts teams, and regulatory authorities.
- Support site logistics, vehicle movements, and stock control (common in quarry/mineral sites).
