Weaner / Grower Manager - Longside

SUMMARY:
We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Weaner/Grower Manager to take responsibility for the daily management of an allocated production section within our piggery operation.
The successful candidate will lead section staff, monitor animal health and performance, manage feed and production inputs, and ensure that high standards of animal welfare, biosecurity, health and safety, and recordkeeping are maintained. This role suits a practical livestock professional who enjoys working closely with animals and people to achieve consistent production results.

POSITION INFO:

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily activities and production performance in the allocated weaner or grower section.
• Monitor pig health, behaviour, feed intake, environmental conditions, mortality and growth performance.
• Ensure feed programmes, medication protocols and stock-control procedures are followed correctly.
• Maintain strict biosecurity, hygiene, animal-welfare and health-and-safety standards.
• Supervise, train and support section employees to complete work safely, correctly and on time.
• Identify and address production, health or performance concerns promptly.
• Maintain accurate production, stock and treatment records using PigCHAMP or a similar system.
• Support audit readiness, including Pork 360, compartmentalisation and health-and-safety requirements.
• Ensure buildings, equipment and the work area are kept clean, well maintained and secure.
• For grower operations, assist with drafting, market readiness and loading of hogs in line with production plans.

Minimum requirements

• Diploma in Agriculture or equivalent qualification.
• At least 3–5 years’ experience in a piggery or intensive livestock-production environment.
• Relevant experience in a weaner, grower, breeding or similar livestock-production section will be advantageous.
• Previous experience supervising staff, or experience as a senior stockperson or relief supervisor.
• Basic computer literacy and experience with production data capture and reporting.
• Experience using PigCHAMP or a similar production system will be advantageous.
• Exposure to Pork 360, compartmentalisation standards or farm audits will be beneficial.
• A valid driver’s licence is preferred.
