VAT Accountant

SUMMARY:
An international property company that owns and manages a diversified portfolio of over 500 property assets, locally and internationally is looking for a VAT Accountant who is passionate about finance

POSITION INFO:

Job Purpose
To perform financial accounting functions across legal entities and management structures.

Qualification & Experience

• BCom Accounting degree or relevant qualification. A postgraduate qualification and articles would be advantageous
• 5yrs experience in a finance environment
• Property/ Financial industry experience is advantageous

Key Responsibilities

SARS - VAT

• Accurately compiling the schedules for each company and submitting the VAT returns timeously.
• Timeously completing any queries from SARS within the allocated period.
• VAT administration work.

SARS - ITR14 & IT14SD

• Supporting to Income Tax department - Accurately compiling the supporting schedules for each company and submitting the IT14 returns timeously, avoiding non-compliance.
• Complete IT14SD return and calculation. Annual Financial statements reconciling with VAT returns and timeous submission of IT14SD return. Resulting in the finalisation of the assessment of a year.
• Timeously completing any queries from SARS within the allocated period.
• Tax administration work etc.

Straight-lining of leases

• Final reporting numbers accounted for in all subsidiary and group ledger accounts.
• Reasonability of final straight-line figures.
• Limited issues when bi-annual entries need to be processed.

Stats SA & SA Reserve Bank Surveys

• Accurately compiling the schedules for each company and submitting the quarterly & annual surveys timeously.
• Reconciling quarterly & annual survey result with trial balance or Annual Financial Statements

Solvency & Liquidity Tests

• Accurately compiling the supporting schedules for each company and calculating reliable results.

Liaising with the external auditors

• Timeously responding to any queries from the auditors.

Ad-hoc

• Authorising of invoice.
• Assisting members of the Finance team with additional task

MRI System

• Support and participation in the user acceptance testing and implementation of the new MRI system.
