Utilities Foreman (Instrumentation Focus)

SUMMARY:
A well-established manufacturing operation within the packaging sector is seeking a skilled Utilities Foreman with a strong instrumentation background to oversee and maintain critical plant utility systems. This role is responsible for ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and compliance of utilities such as steam, air, water, and electrical systems, with a key focus on instrumentation, control systems, and process optimisation.

POSITION INFO:

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate all maintenance and operational activities related to plant utilities.
• Lead instrumentation maintenance, calibration, and fault-finding on control systems and field devices.
• Ensure optimal performance of boilers, compressors, pumps, HVAC systems, and water treatment plants.
• Manage PLCs, SCADA systems, and process control loops to ensure accurate monitoring and control.
• Drive preventative and predictive maintenance strategies to minimise downtime.
• Ensure compliance with safety, health, environmental, and quality standards.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of artisans and technicians.
• Manage contractors and service providers for specialised utility and instrumentation work.
• Analyse plant performance data and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain accurate documentation, reports, and maintenance records.

Minimum Requirements

• National Diploma or N6 in Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• Trade Test: Instrumentation Technician or Electrician (with strong instrumentation experience).
• Minimum 5–8 years’ experience in utilities maintenance within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Proven experience with PLCs, SCADA systems, and process control instrumentation.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills in instrumentation and utilities systems.
• Previous supervisory or foreman-level experience is essential.
