Our client, an established
clothing and apparel manufacturing company, is seeking a reliable, organised, and detail-oriented
Trims Assistant to join their warehouse and production team. The successful candidate will be responsible for receiving, checking, storing, counting, issuing, and maintaining accurate stock levels of garment trims and accessories required for production.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive incoming trims and garment accessories from suppliers.
- Check quantities received against purchase orders, delivery notes, and relevant documentation.
- Inspect trims for damage, incorrect quantities, colour discrepancies, or other defects.
- Report shortages, excess quantities, damages, or incorrect items to the relevant supervisor.
- Ensure all received trims are correctly recorded, labelled, and stored.
- Organise and maintain trims within the designated warehouse/storage area.
- Ensure trims are stored correctly and are easily identifiable.
- Maintain accurate trims stock levels and records.
- Conduct regular stock counts and assist with stock takes.
- Investigate and report stock discrepancies.
- Monitor stock levels and notify the relevant department when stock is running low.
- Identify and manage old, unused, damaged, or excess trims as required.
- Pick and issue trims according to production requirements and approved documentation.
- Ensure the correct trim, colour, size, and quantity is issued to production.
- Prepare trims for production orders within required deadlines.
- Ensure all issued quantities are accurately recorded.
- Follow up on outstanding trims required for production.
- Communicate shortages, discrepancies, or delays to the Production, Merchandising, or Warehouse teams.
- Maintain accurate records of trims received, issued, returned, and outstanding.
- Capture relevant stock information on the applicable ERP or stock control system.
- Maintain accurate filing of delivery notes, purchase orders, issue documentation, and stock records.
- Assist with preparing trims reports and stock lists.
- Receive and process unused or returned trims from production.
- Ensure returned trims are checked and stored in the correct location.
- Assist with packing, labelling, and preparing trims for production or shipment.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe trims storage area.
- Work closely with Warehouse, Production, Merchandising, Buying, and Quality teams.
- Assist with resolving stock and trims-related queries.
- Adhere to all warehouse procedures, health and safety requirements, and company policies.
- Perform general warehouse and trims-related duties as required.
Minimum Requirements
- Matric (Grade 12).
- Previous experience within a warehouse, clothing, textile, garment manufacturing, or production environment will be advantageous.
- Experience handling garment trims, accessories, or clothing production materials will be highly advantageous.
- Experience with stock counting and inventory control.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Experience using an ERP, stock control, or warehouse management system will be advantageous.
- Good numerical ability and the ability to accurately count and record stock.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines.
- Ability to perform physical warehouse duties, including standing, walking, lifting, and moving stock.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

What We Are Looking For
We are looking for a
reliable, organised, and detail-oriented Trims Assistant with an interest in the
clothing and apparel manufacturing environment.
The ideal candidate must have a strong eye for detail and understand the importance of accurate trims stock control. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the
correct trims, colours, sizes, and quantities are received, stored, counted, picked, and issued to production according to the required specifications.
Experience working with clothing trims such as
labels, swing tags, buttons, zips, elastics, threads, tapes, packaging, and other garment accessories will be advantageous.
