Role Purpose
The Treasury Manager is responsible for leading the organisation's treasury operations by ensuring effective cash and liquidity management, funding, banking, and financial risk management. The role oversees daily cash flow, forecasting, borrowing, investments, payment operations, foreign exchange, and working capital optimisation to ensure the business maintains sufficient liquidity to meet its operational and strategic objectives. The Treasury Manager manages banking relationships, debt facilities, Letters of Credit, and regulatory compliance, while ensuring efficient treasury processes, robust internal controls, and accurate reporting. The role also provides strategic support to the business by identifying funding requirements, managing financial risks, driving continuous process improvements, and partnering with key stakeholders to optimise the organisation's overall treasury function.

Key Accountabilities and Outputs

Treasury Management
Manage the day-to-day cash flow requirements of the business, ensuring adequate liquidity to support operational and strategic funding needs.
Monitor and manage the company's daily, medium, and long-term cash positions.
Prepare, maintain, and oversee the 13-week rolling cash flow forecast, including all inflow and outflow schedules.
Produce daily cash position reports and other treasury and liquidity management reports for management.
Forecast short, medium, and long-term borrowing requirements and communicate funding needs proactively to management.
Conduct borrowing and investment analyses to support funding and liquidity decisions.
Work closely with the Assets and Projects teams to understand current and future funding requirements and align medium and long-term assets with appropriate debt structures.
Oversee all funding commitments, loan reporting, and scheduled payments.
Measure, monitor, and optimise debtor and creditor working capital days in collaboration with the Shared Services and Finance teams.
Review and approve all local and foreign payments while ensuring compliance with company policies and banking mandates.
Execute and oversee intercompany and interbank fund transfers, including daily cash sweeping where applicable.


Manage Letters of Credit (LCs), including LC trackers, issuance, amendments, settlements, and related documentation.
Oversee foreign exchange (FX) activities, including forecasting FX requirements, purchasing foreign currency, monitoring exposures, recommending hedging strategies, and resolving FX settlement issues.
Ensure all import and export documentation is completed accurately and submitted within required timeframes.
Ensure compliance with South African Reserve Bank (SARB) Exchange Control requirements, including the preparation and submission of applications for foreign payments and guarantee fees.
Maintain compliance with anti-money laundering (AML), FIAS, and all other applicable banking and regulatory requirements.
Develop, maintain, and strengthen banking relationships while managing bank administration, bank profiles, mandates, account structures, and banking scorecards.
Resolve banking queries relating to foreign exchange, Letters of Credit, loans, payments, and other treasury matters.
Compile and verify interest calculations, banking fees, guarantee fees and loan charges while identifying opportunities to optimise banking costs.
Review daily bank reconciliations and work with the accounting team to resolve reconciliation differences, bank general ledger uploads, and journal entry discrepancies.
Review credit card and fleet reconciliations, oversee related journals, and manage corporate card applications and administration.
Update daily foreign exchange rates within SAP to ensure accurate financial reporting and transaction processing.
Prepare monthly treasury reports, including debt reporting and group reporting requirements.
Identify treasury and financial risks, implement appropriate internal controls, and ensure effective risk mitigation.
Recommend and implement continuous improvements to treasury processes, cash management practices, systems, and controls.
Support the implementation and enhancement of treasury management systems and provide user training where required.
Track and resolve payroll banking exceptions.
Act as the treasury subject matter expert, providing guidance and support to business units and corporate functions on banking, liquidity, funding, and cash management matters.
Support the maintenance of bank mandates and authorised signatory records.

Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree (3 years) / NQF level 7 (Essential)
Up to 5 years’ experience (Operational) FMCG, relevant experience in Corporate Finance and familiarity with Treasury Operations
MS Excel, MS Word & MS PowerPoint, SAP
