Transport Controller

National company based in Pietermaritzburg is seeking an experienced Transport Controller to join their dynamic team! Please note that this role will start off as a 3-month probation period, please only apply if you are available immediately. The hours for this role are from 6pm – 6am.

Experience Required:

• Min 5 years work experience within the Transport Industry.
• Previous experience of driver management.
• Basic Computer Skills

Purpose of the Job:

• To ensure there is a strong focus, within the operation, on vehicle movement, personnel control and on-time deliveries.
• To ensure the operational services are carried out with a strong customer focus, safety and environmental care.
• To ensure the operating arm of the depot carries out all of its duties to the total satisfaction of the customer
• To carry out monitoring, both cyclic and random, on all activities carried out by the driving force.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• To carry out monitoring of all operating activities.
• To provide, with Operational Supervisors, a weekend and public holiday rota system, ensuring a supervisory presence at all times the contracts are active.
• To monitor that training is provided to all driving personnel.
• To ensure provision of driver training as required.
• To ensure driver assessments are carried out as required.
• To provide cover, personally, in the event of a driver shortage.
• To provide and deploy sufficient resources to ensure the efficiency of the operation
