Job Summary

  • The role of a Training Coordinator has an overall aim to execute the organisation’s vision as directed by the Training Manager in delivering quality BOSIET, HUET and other trainings provided by the Centre to its clients in conjunction with OPITO and other accrediting body standards.
  • The role will focus on creating up to date training materials in line with the relevant standards, constantly updating the materials to reflect recent changes to standards, effective delivery of the materials during live training sessions with clients, mentoring and aiding in the development of other trainers and trainees.
  • This role requires excellent organisational and interpersonal skills: you should be efficient and can work well within a team and maintain relationships with a wide range of people both internally and externally.
  • The successful applicant will need to have a flexible approach to work and be able to cope with a full workload and ever-changing priorities.

Main Duties of a Training Coordinator

  • The lead expert for the BOSIET and HUET training programme, coordinating, maintaining, and developing our client’s training programmes, including oversight of each individual trainer’s experience
  • To deputise for, and support, the Training Manager and provide operational support relating to scheduling and management of training sessions and training staff.
  • To support the Training Manager in maintaining and developing our clients’ Training Programmes in conjunction with the relevant accrediting body standards

Job Description

  • Maintain specialist knowledge of the BOSIET, HUET, and other HSE Training Curriculum, including new and additional training programmes introduced in the company. Maintain specialist knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety Regulations in offshore and onshore work environments, and actively contribute innovative ideas and solutions for the improvement of service provided at our client’s.
  • Plan, organise and be responsible for complex activities and programmes including training workshops, delivering training to delegates (theory and practical) and organising training events. This includes selecting internal and external venues, sourcing and procuring training materials, collaboration with other departments. Prepare and update the relevant business case and funding projects for new and existing training programmes and events. Encompassing strategic planning for unforeseen circumstances and adjustments
  • Manage, develop, and run the training activities required for live training sessions with clients
  • To deliver effective HSE training modules, both theory and practical
  • Plan, develop and undertake surveys and audits in relation to Training delivery, training materials, training equipment, Induction, to facilitate in the improvement and development of the services provided by our client’s
  • Interpret and keep updated with relevant government, industry and accrediting body policies and standards
  • Attend training workshops, industry forums and events to foster knowledge and personal development
  • To assist in the development of additional courses / modules and undertake duties as required by the Training Manager.
  • To evaluate courses, identifying development needs and recommendation for improvements, where appropriate
  • To adopt a flexible approach to the working week, this may on occasions involve working late and on weekends
  • To work within a changing environment, both in terms of training and delivery. To recognise and accept personal development needed to meet this changing environmental demand.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent demonstrable experience
  • Recognised professional certification in areas of Health and Safety
  • Auditable instructor or trainer qualifications
  • Willingness to undertake further training and CPD as required for the role

Knowledge and Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working as HSE Instructor/Trainer in either area as listed below.
  1. First Aid
  2. Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET)
  3. Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET)
  4. Defensive Driving Couse (DDC)
  5. Fire Fighting Course
  • Experience of planning, delivering, and assessing practical training sessions / exercises
  • Experience of working offshore
  • Proven presentational and writing skills
  • Effective management of time, resources, and records
  • Demonstrable experience of working within a team
  • Demonstrable experience working with senior and junior colleagues
  • Demonstrable experience in organising and co-ordinating meetings, workshops and/or interviews
