Toolmaker

SUMMARY:
The Toolmaker will be responsible for development, maintenance, repair, & improvement of all tooling dies, jigs, fixtures, and fittings for press tools in line with production and customer requirements to support business objectives.

POSITION INFO:

Qualifications:

• Qualified, trade-tested, and experienced Toolmakers (new                                                                                    projects and tool maintenance, repair, and modification) are essential
• Min N3(and matric)
• In-depth knowledge of grinders, lathes & milling machines
• In-depth knowledge of Tools, Jig & Die Maker Trade
• Previous industry/product-related experience preferred
• Valid forklift and crane licenses are highly advantageous
• Essential is the applicant''s experience in Tool development, fabrication, maintenance, understanding of manufacturing techniques & 5S processes; principles of continuous improvement, fundamental financial/cost concepts
• Adherence to the project timeline and ability to work independently
• Basic understanding of GD& T

Responsibilities:

• Develop new tools in line with Product Specifications
• Support the new tooling division for new product development, launch, and introductions to ensure the robustness of product builds.
• Solve problems and suggest solutions to machining
• Perform any other assigned reasonable duties
• Routine servicing, maintenance, and regrinding of tools in line with speck
• Repair and maintenance of press tools / die repairs within set standards
• Attend breakdowns, identify faults, and problem-solve at the press with minimal downtime to aid production.
• Plan repair work, report on breakdown root causes, equipment faults, and concerns to management timeously and on a daily basis.
• Identify and escalate any activity that has the potential to cause harm or damage to Tools
• Test tools (electrical and hydraulic/pneumatic operation) before returning to production-document.
• Ensure compliance/adherence to all prescribed procedures
• Understand and operate within budget/cost measures for tooling
• Compile/update prescribed reports
• Actively participate in all assigned projects

• Active involvement in safety – e.g., ensure risk assessments are available, read and understood for each activity undertaken & promote environmental issues – ensure all company procedures related to the environment are understood and followed.
