Testing Officer
One of our clients, a reputable metering solutions company based in Maitland, Cape Town is currently recruiting for entry-level Testing Officers to join their growing team. This opportunity is ideal for recent Matriculants looking to kickstart their careers in a technical and regulated environment. Successful candidates will receive mandatory Verification Officer training and gain exposure to the Legal Metrology industry.
POSITION INFO:
Minimum Requirements:
- Matric with Pure Mathematics and Physical Science.
- Willingness to undergo Verification Officer training, which will be provided by the company.
- Ability to follow detailed procedures and ensure compliance with legal and quality standards.
- Keen eye for detail and good data capturing skills.
Roles and Responsibilities:- Conduct verification of water meters under supervision, in accordance with SANS 1529-1, LM-045-09-19, the Legal Metrology Act No. 9 of 2014, and internal laboratory quality standards.
- Handle verification/test items with care and accuracy throughout the testing process.
- Ensure accuracy of data captured during verification procedures..
- Inspect and maintain the test bench to ensure it remains in proper working condition and free of leaks, and confirm that all instruments are calibrated.
- Follow procedures to ensure rejected meters are correctly identified and not sent for sealing.
- Perform routine maintenance checks on test benches and complete the relevant maintenance record forms (Form M2).
- Support the Laboratory Manager in ensuring that the laboratory is kept clean, orderly, and compliant with quality standards.
- Understand and apply the duties and powers of a Verification Officer as outlined in Chapter V, Clause 25 of the Legal Metrology Act.
- Assist in the reporting of verification issues, and escalate findings or anomalies to the Laboratory Manager as necessary.
- Analyse test results, determine meter conformity, and document reasons for any meter rejections.
- Although method development is not required, you will be expected to work according to validated and approved procedures.
