SUMMARY:
Territory Manager - Western Cape_Required for marketing of animal management solutions to farmers in the region, undertaking sales, promotions and on-farm consultations and installations, whilst implementing marketing and sales initiatives in the assigned Territory.

POSITION INFO:

Purpose of the Role:

To professionally represent the Client’s animal management systems within the specified area, undertaking sales, promotions, on farm consultations and installations as well as implementing marketing and sales initiatives both regionally and nationally.

 

Major Responsibility Areas and KPIs:

 

Territory Management

  • To implement an approved annual regional sales plan
  • To build relationships with regional dealer network
  • To build relationships with farmers and associated service organisations
  • Manage costs and regional sponsorship budgets within an agreed budget

 

Provide ongoing high quality customer service

  • Maintain customer service standards as expected by the SA sales values and in line with the overall group values
  • Professionally represent the Client within the specific region and maintain the key disciplines expected within the company’s guiding principles

 

Dealer Support

  • Maintain an active call programme that is both deliverable and in line with dealer expectations
  • Maintain all point of sales and merchandising material in a professional standard and within line with guidelines
  • Undertake regular training of dealer staff relative to their levels and experience
  • Proactively manage store inventory in line with relative dealer expectations and/or stock turn policies.  Ensure all stock is relative an in a saleable condition
  • Work with Key Account Managers to ensure implementation of promotions and other activities to meet goals and targets
  • Professional act on all referrals from dealers for advice, technical support or installations for the client’s on-farm solutions
  • Identify new and existing opportunities on order to grow sales
  • Attend relative meetings of both staff, management and category management as requested
  • Actively evaluate market and feedback any relative information on competitor activities or initiatives

 

On Farm Support

  • Actively seek opportunities for on-farm sales of products and services
  • Undertake regular training and demonstrations of products and services to farmers and associated service industries
  • Provide solutions beyond the farm gate by identifying opportunities and seeking support from the On-farm solutions team
  • Undertake on-farm installations for products ensuring that maximum up selling of companion products and services are exploited.
  • Where application, a installation/consultancy fee should be charged for expertise, time and consumable products
  • Refer potential leads to technical support managers where solutions or support are required to maximise the sales opportunity

 

Training and Support

  • Undertake product, technical and health and safety training as required
  • Ensure that self development is undertaken when required to maintain a level of knowledge and professionalism to remain competitive
  • Undertake training to both dealer and on-farm channels to promote products and services and also create demand resulting in increase sales

 

Operational and marketing activities

  • Maintain all company tools of trade in a safe and professional conduction
  • Complete all administrative functions in a timely and professional manner in terms of policy
  • Report activities and sales through SAP CRM regularly in order to support quantative reporting and ensure that all time is maximised in terms of returns
  • Manage costs and operational expenses within budget and in terms of SA Sales expense policy, submitting reconciliations in both a timely manner and in terms of the Company policy

 

Team

  • Provide support to other team members as and when required
  • Participate in the implementation and achievement of team objectives and action plans
  • Actively participate in team meetings
  • Assist in supporting team events and ensuring that peers act responsibly and professionally
  • Ensure that dress standards are maintained at an expected level resulting in a professional representation of the company
  • Ensure that behaviours and activities are maintained in terms of policy
  • Be prepared to share knowledge and experience to all team members both individually and at team meetings to assist the team to meet overall objectives
  • Ensure that confidentiality is respected and maintained to ensure that no one person is disadvantaged and to ensure that a competitive advantage is maintained at all times

 

Capabilities:

  • Strong desire to succeed
  • Strong organisation and time management skills
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint and working knowledge of software
  • Good communicator and team player
  • Sound knowledge of electric fencing – animal management systems
  • A practical and can-do attitude preferably with an agricultural background
  • Ability to work alone and unsupervised
  • Strong focus on achieving goals and objectives

 

Required:

  • Clean drivers licence with no endorsements
  • Previous territory management experience
  • Previous experience in selling to the agricultural market place
  • A history of strong sales growth and achievement
  • Completely bilingual in Afrikaans and English
