Telematics Technician
Our client, in the construction industry is seeking a Telematics Technician who, will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing camera systems, sensor systems access control and vehicle tracking systems
Location: Port Elizabeth/ Gqeberha
Job type: Permanent - On site
Duties and Responsibilities
- Install telematics and tracking devices in vehicles, trucks, or heavy equipment.
- Configure, test, and calibrate telematics systems to ensure proper functionality.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on telematics hardware and wiring.
- Diagnose and resolve telematics faults, connectivity issues, and software/hardware malfunctions.
- Ensure compliance with installation standards, safety regulations, and client specifications.
- Provide technical support and attend to breakdowns as required.
- Document installations, repairs, and maintenance performed.
- Provide feedback to management on recurring technical issues or product improvements.
Minimum Requirements
- Matric/Grade 12 with technical or electrical subjects
- 2–3 years’ experience as a technician in telematics, auto-electrical, or similar field.
- Knowledge of vehicle electrical systems, wiring, and diagnostics.
- Valid driver’s license (Code 08).
- Willingness to work flexible hours when required.
Key Competencies/Skills
- Strong technical and problem-solving ability.
- Good understanding of telematics systems.
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and technical manuals.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in installations.
- Strong communication skills.
