Technical Buyer

POSITION INFO:
Minimum requirements:

• National Diploma Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
• 2 to 5 years’ experience in technical buying, technical support, and order processing.
• Preferably, formerly from a Multinational/Global company supplying industrial equipment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (data manipulation and reporting).

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent numerical and analytical abilities.
• High attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently and within a team.

• Identify, evaluate, and select reliable suppliers and subcontractors for technical goods and services.
• Interpret technical drawings, specifications, and bills of materials to determine procurement requirements.
• Manage purchase orders from creation to delivery, ensuring accuracy and timely fulfilment.
• Monitor supplier performance, conduct vendor evaluations, and maintain strong supplier relationships.
• Resolve issues related to quality, delivery, or pricing with suppliers.
• Optimise procurement costs through value analysis, cost-saving initiatives, and bulk purchasing strategies.
• Maintain accurate procurement records, reports, and documentation.
• Process customer sales orders accurately and on time.
• Track and communicate the status of customer orders with internal teams and clients.
• Align with finance on payment terms and credit limits.
• Track backorders and delivery schedules.
• Prepare invoicing projections and forecast reports.
• Prepare reports for management and perform other administrative duties.
• Provide accurate and continuous feedback to management.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, ensuring high-quality and professional service.
• Drive continuous improvement and implement lean processes within the business unit.
• Comply with all Health and Safety standards.
• Take on evolving responsibilities in line with business growth.
