Can you read an engineering drawing, price the parts and find a supplier who can deliver on time?
An international maritime technology and engineering group is looking for a purchaser who understands both technical requirements and commercial costs. You’ll source components, equipment, spares, raw materials and services for projects across the dredging, offshore, mining and defence sectors.

You’ll need:
- 5+ years’ experience in procurement, purchasing or sourcing, including technical or strategic procurement.
- A Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Diploma/Degree.
- Experience with mechanical estimating, proposals, tenders or project costing.
- The ability to work from engineering drawings, specifications and bills of materials (BOMs).
- Experience negotiating with suppliers and managing pricing, quality and delivery.
- ERP experience and strong Excel skills.
Experience in
heavy engineering, manufacturing, mining, marine, fabrication sourcing, capital equipment or project procurement is particularly relevant. You should be comfortable dealing with both local and international suppliers.
IFS experience is preferred; SAP experience is advantageous. A
CIPS or other recognised procurement qualification is also sought.
What you’ll be doingYou’ll request and compare quotations, evaluate suppliers, negotiate terms and place orders for technical items. You’ll use your estimating skills to check costs, support tenders and proposals, and identify better sourcing options.
You’ll plan for long-lead items, track orders and deliveries, manage supply risks, and keep procurement records accurate in the ERP system. You’ll work closely with Engineering, Projects, the Workshop, Logistics, Finance, Quality and Operations to make sure the right items arrive at the right time and meet the required specification.
