JOB SPECIFICATION
Position: TLB Operator (Tractor Loader Backhoe Operator)
Job Summary: We are looking for an experienced TLB Operator to operate a tractor loader backhoe on site, performing excavation, loading, and general earthmoving duties. The ideal candidate will have a valid operator's certificate/licence, strong site safety awareness, and hands-on experience operating a TLB in a construction or civil works environment.
Key Requirements:
Valid TLB operator's licence/certificate (e.g. accredited training provider certification)
Proven experience operating a Tractor Loader Backhoe on site
Valid driver's licence (advantageous)
Sound understanding of site safety regulations and procedures
Physically fit and able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Operating the TLB for excavation, trenching, and digging of foundations
Loading and offloading materials such as soil, sand, and rubble
Backfilling trenches and excavated areas
Levelling and grading site surfaces as required
Conducting daily pre-operational checks and basic maintenance on the machine
Reporting mechanical faults or issues to the site supervisor/foreman
Working alongside site teams to ensure excavation work aligns with project specifications
Adhering to all health and safety protocols on site, including wearing appropriate PPE
Maintaining accurate records of hours operated and work completed
Ensuring safe operation of the machine at all times, avoiding damage to underground services or structures
Ideal Candidate Profile:
Reliable, safety-conscious, and detail-oriented
Strong mechanical aptitude and awareness of equipment upkeep
Able to work independently and as part of a site team
Good communication skills for liaising with site supervisors and other operators
Punctual with a strong work ethic
