Survey Pilot — Airborne Geophysical Operations

Our client operates within the geospatial and airborne geophysics industry, delivering low-level airborne geophysical survey operations in support of mineral exploration, energy, and natural resource projects. They are seeking an experienced Survey Pilot to join their Flight Operations team, flying the Cessna 208 Caravan on low-level survey operations across South Africa and international project locations.

This is a highly dynamic, in-field role suited to a pilot who thrives under pressure, adapts well to extended field rotations, and can maintain high levels of alertness and performance in a demanding operational environment. You'll also act as a reference point for more junior members of the Flight Operations Team.

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities

• Fly the Cessna 208 Caravan on low-level geophysical survey operations in accordance with project, safety, and procedural requirements
• Maintain familiarity with all relevant aviation regulations, notices, circulars, and the Flight Operations Manual
• Take responsibility for the safe operation of the aircraft and the safety of occupants and property carried during flight time
• Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures and checklists per the Flight Operations Manual and Aviation Authority Regulations
• Contribute to Project Safety Plans and Risk Assessments
• Advise other pilots and junior staff on operational and safety matters
• Undertake training-type duties in accordance with company and/or Aviation Authority approval
• Maintain accurate flight training records and daily flight and duty information for upload to the Air Operations Management System
• Promote a positive HSE culture and actively participate in the company's HSE management system

• Valid Commercial Pilot Licence for the Cessna 208 Caravan
• Minimum 750 hours total flight time (company Fixed-wing Standard)
• Minimum 5 years aviation experience
• Good navigational skills and demonstrated flight planning abilities
• Ability to remain calm under pressure, with strong communication skills
• Medically fit to fly, as declared by a Designated Aviation Medical Examiner
• Willingness and ability to undertake frequent international field rotations of varying duration

• C208 Caravan hours specifically
• Geophysical survey experience (a plus, not a requirement)
• Turbine engine time
• Previous international survey experience
